Class Policies, Management, etc.:

For this class, some basic knowledge of some computer management techniques is helpful. This is not very high level, and what I describe below should get you most of the way there.

If you have a problem with the ArcGIS software, some common solutions are listed on the CENG 160 web page. Please check there first.

Other ArcGIS issues and possible solutions are here:

1) If you have trouble with ArcGIS launching, where you get the beginnings of the screen but after several minutes it is still blank, it could be due to a stray 'lock' file. Try this solution:

a) close all ArcGIS products (ArcMap, ArcCatalog)

b) Using windows explorer, navigate to the folder z:\dcengr\application data\ESRI.

c) Delete the entire ESRI folder (and ONLY that folder).

d) Relaunch ArcMap and see if that changes anything.

2) If step 1 fails, and you are getting white screens for the tools, try the sequence of steps here.
